Heather plants are among the most beautiful symbols of autumn. Their contribution to the decorative appearance of gardens and homes is invaluable. However, proper care is essential to enjoying their beauty throughout the season. Below, we present the best methods for caring for heather plants so they are healthy and bloom abundantly.
Appropriate soil for heather plants
Heather plants thrive in acidic soil. Therefore, if you want your plants to look beautiful, you should provide them with the right soil. The best soil for heathers is peat, humus-rich soil, and acidic soil with a pH between 3.5 and 5. If you buy heather plants, transplant them into a larger pot with the appropriate soil. Heather plants do not like overcrowding, so the pot should have a minimum diameter of 15 centimetres.
Coffee grounds are a natural acidifying fertiliser. They contain sufficient magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, all the nutrients that heather plants love. To prepare such a homemade fertiliser, simply dry the coffee grounds, sprinkle them in the pot with the heather plants, and gently mix them with the soil.
