The presidential elections in the USA are approaching rapidly. If there isn't a sudden turn of events, Americans will again choose between Joe Biden (Democrats) and Donald Trump (Republicans) at the polls at the beginning of November.
The election campaign is gaining momentum. The first candidate debate will take place on CNN on June 27 at 2:00 AM GMT. Joe Biden held such an event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Among the guests at the event were Hollywood stars like George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Over £24 million was raised for the incumbent president's continuing campaign. For comparison, Donald Trump raised £40 million during an April meeting with major donors in Florida.

Television presenter Jimmy Kimmel hosted Saturday's gala. He interviewed Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama. During the conversation, both politicians emphasized the necessity of scrutinising the Republican candidate.
President Biden appealed to voters not to forget what it was like when Donald Trump was president and resided in the White House.
The venue where the gala took place was heavily guarded by police units in full gear. A protest against Biden's administration's policies on the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip also occurred near the event location, according to the Associated Press.
Donald Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt criticized Joe Biden, saying: "The only people in America who support Joe Biden’s failing campaign are elitist Hollywood celebrities".
