  • Four fighter jets were scrambled from air bases in Romania. A small object entered the country's airspace from the Black Sea and was detected on the radar.
  • The Shiite organisation Hezbollah, operating in Lebanon, announced during the night from Thursday to Friday a "transition to a new, escalatory phase of confrontation" with Israel. They added that they had used guided missiles against Israeli soldiers for the first time, AFP reported. The Iranian-backed armed group claims that since the beginning of the ground operation in Lebanon on 1st October, Israel's losses have amounted to 55 soldiers killed and over 500 injured, according to Reuters.
  • At Holman Prison in Alabama, a 36-year-old named Derrick Dearman was executed by lethal injection, having been sentenced to death for killing five people in 2016. He had previously withdrawn his appeals and requested the execution of the sentence. "I am guilty. It would be unjust to the victims and their families to delay justice," Dearman wrote to the judge in April.
  • The Venezuelan authorities detained "another group of mercenaries" from abroad, including US citizens, who planned to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power, declared Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello on Thursday. Cabello considered the right-hand man of the Venezuelan leader, accused the American CIA, the DEA drug enforcement agency, and the Spanish intelligence agency CNI of bringing mercenaries and weapons into Venezuela in collaboration with criminal groups.
