You can serve potato balls with dinner, alongside meats and salads, or as a snack with a fancy sauce. Fans of richer flavours can add a small piece of yellow cheese to the centre of the balls, which will melt during frying. However, after such a feast, it might be a good idea to brew yourself an infusion of three ingredients for better digestion.
How to make crunchy potato balls?
Mrs Henia Foks, who shares her homemade recipes on YouTube, revealed the recipe for crunchy potato balls to her followers. Preparing this speciality is ridiculously simple, requiring only potatoes, flour, and herbs. To achieve crunchy potato balls, you must remember to put the dough exclusively into hot fat. Otherwise, the balls will absorb the contents of the pan and become soft and soaked with oil. If you're unsure if the fat is well-heated, take a small piece of dough and throw it into the pan. If it floats to the top, you can start frying. This is Mrs Henia's proven method.
It's worth serving an aromatic cold sauce with these balls. This can be a garlic sauce or a green herb sauce which has recently taken social media by storm. The potato balls will also taste great with cold homemade ajvar or the almost iconic zucchini ketchup. You can also serve the potato balls with dinner instead of potatoes or dumplings. They will be a wonderful complement to roasted meats or stews.
