Presidents Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron met at the White House to join the G7 leaders' teleconference. This meeting marks the third anniversary of the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Macron arrived at the White House on Monday morning, being the first European leader received by Trump during his second term.

The primary topic of the teleconference, which also includes leaders from Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, is the war in Ukraine. Washington opposes the use of the term "Russian aggression" in the group's official communiqué. Macron and Trump are also expected to hold a joint press conference.

Macron initiated the proposal to deploy European soldiers to Ukraine and secured Trump's support for this initiative. The discussions also include negotiations to resolve the conflict and security guarantees for Ukraine. Macron's official welcoming ceremony at the White House is scheduled for 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time.

The United Kingdom and France want to persuade Trump

According to "The Times," French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer plan to persuade Donald Trump to abandon talks with Russia.

Diplomatic sources emphasise that Macron and Starmer will attempt to influence Trump's decisions, which could be crucial for Ukraine's future and regional stability. Their actions aim to ensure European commitments to Ukraine are upheld.
