As reported by Bloomberg, two primary military projects critical for strengthening European security are moving into a new stage. The ties between Paris and Berlin are becoming firmer, illustrated by the meeting between Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz and France's Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

After disputes over the cooperation structure within export policy and intellectual property between French and German corporations, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believe their companies will break through the impasses and fulfil two large projects – a new fighter and a main battle tank.

Bloomberg points out that the new fighter project - Future Combat Air System (FCAS) - intends to link the French company, Dassault Aviation SA, with the German section of Airbus SE that involves defence, presently part of the competing consortium Eurofighter (which also comprises BAE Systems Plc and Leonardo SpA).

The main battle tank is the second Franco-German endeavour under the Main Ground Combat System, designated to supersede the Leopard 2 and Leclerc.

"I observe that both projects are moving smoothly. I have confidence that this important endeavour, critical for our security, will conclude successfully," stated Chancellor Scholz, as quoted by Bloomberg. The French Prime Minister spoke about the resolve of both nations to fulfil them.
