The former French priest Olivier de Scitivaux de Greische has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for regularly raping four boys while serving as a priest.

Olivier de Scitivaux de Greische was ordained in 1989 at 29. He served in the Diocese of Orléans, south of Paris. Instead of focusing on his priestly duties, he prioritized sexually abusing children. The cleric quickly gained the trust of a particular family in his parish with three young brothers.

The boys' parents allowed the priest to make social visits and stay overnight in their home, unaware of his sinister intentions. Olivier sexually abused the siblings, with the eldest being regularly raped starting at the age of 9.

Priest raped four boys

The priest molested the boys not only at their family home but also during trips to a winter lodge and summer camps. The fourth victim was a friend of the three brothers. The youngest of them told investigators that at one point, the priest raped him "every week, every day, every evening". Sometimes, he molested the boy using various objects and sometimes shaved his body. The victims are now about 40 years old.

Even though 64-year-old Olivier has left the priesthood, he will not escape punishment. He confessed to all the charges against him, namely rape and sexual assault on four children over more than 10 years at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s.

Harsh sentence for the priest

Olivier was sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment and will be eligible for parole only after serving 10 years. The court also sentenced him to social and judicial supervision, mandated treatment, and a ban on any professional or volunteer activity involving contact with minors.

It is disturbing that the 64-year-old admitted to raping two other children as early as 1982. These acts are past the statute of limitations, so he cannot be held accountable.
