Eva Mendes hints at acting return under Gosling's direction
She last worked on a film set a decade ago, and even "worked" might be overstating it for such a small role. Did she ruin her career? Not exactly. She reveals for whom she would return to acting.
Eva Mendes made her debut on the small screen in an episode of "ER", but the true beginning of her acting career was marked by her appearance in "Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror". Her biggest hits include "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "Hitch", where she starred alongside Will Smith. Her last film was the 2014 thriller "Lost River" with Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith, in which she briefly appeared.
Through her work, she met her partner (or possibly husband?) Ryan Gosling, with whom she has two daughters. They starred together in "The Place Beyond the Pines," although Mendes insists it wasn't their first encounter. The magic just happened there, on the set.
Eva Mendes is 50 years old, and it's somewhat difficult to deem her a cinema icon. Her return might not be as sensational as Demi Moore's recent roles. However, as a guest on the morning TV show "Good Morning America", she was asked about a possible return to film.
"I just worked with Ryan Gosling. He's, like, the best," she said about concluding her career, highlighting its peak. She respects him greatly as a filmmaker (despite his directorial debut being considered a flop by critics) and told the Sunday Times she would return to acting if he directed.
In the same interview, she also openly admitted, "I was never in love with acting," and very honestly added, "I wasn't a great actress."
