Guacamole is one of the most popular recipes of Mexican cuisine that has become popular worldwide. It's no wonder. It's a mix of extraordinary flavours and scents enclosed in a creamy consistency.
Originally, guacamole was served with tortilla chips, though it can be eaten with anything. Fans of this dish scoop it directly from the bowl with a spoon. It's one dish that fits perfectly at a party or gathering. Unfortunately, guacamole quickly turns brown and loses its appealing green colour. But you can avoid this. All you need to do is use Eva Longoria's trick.

Guacamole is a sauce made from ripe avocados, lime juice, and salt. The basic recipe was already known to the Aztecs. Over the years, guacamole has been enriched with ripe tomatoes, red onion, chopped cilantro, and even garlic.
There is not one "original" recipe for guacamole. It's one of those sauces that really embraces many add-ons; however, it tastes best in its basic version. You can find ready-made guacamole in markets and stores, but making it at home is easy. You need ripe avocado (for example, the Hass variety), a few cherry tomatoes, a red onion, and fresh cilantro. Do not overlook this last ingredient. It adds an extraordinary, fresh aroma.
If you want the guacamole not to darken, use Eva Longoria's trick. The actress substitutes lime for lemon juice, as ascorbic acid and citric acid lower the pH of avocado, preventing the flesh from darkening. A bit of lemon juice gives a sour taste that balances the natural flavour of avocado.
