Elton John has been dealing with a severe eye infection in recent months, significantly affecting his vision. He is currently undergoing long-term treatment which, although progressing slowly, offers hope for improvement. During these challenging times, he is supported by his family and specialists, as he has frequently mentioned.
Elton John stays connected with fans, occasionally sharing updates about his health. Recently, in an interview with "Good Morning America," he admitted that he is still unable to see in his right eye.
I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France. And it’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. And my left eye’s not the greatest, Elton John said recently on "Good Morning America".
Elton John still cannot see in his right eye
Nevertheless, Elton John tries to remain optimistic and hopes to regain his health soon. However, he experiences moments of doubt, particularly concerning work, as he is unable to fully utilise all his senses.
So, there’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK. But I’m kind of stuck in the moment because I can do something like this [the interview], but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Because I can’t see, a lyric for start. We’re taking an initiative to try and make it better," he said, without giving specifics. "I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything," Elton John said.
The artist hopes to complete his record once his treatment concludes.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything and I just have to get off my backside, he added.
