Ecuadorian footballer Marco Angulo dies at 22 after crash

Marco Angulo, a two-time representative of Ecuador, has passed away following a car accident. The incident occurred on 7th October 2024. The young player was hospitalised for over a month, until 11th November, struggling for his life. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to save him. He was just 22 years old.

The midfielder for LDU Quito from Ecuador was involved in a tragic car accident that impacted many. Sadly, three people lost their lives, including the Ecuadorian national team's two-time representative. The accident took place on 7th October, after which the young footballer was in hospital, fighting for his life until 11th November.

The 22-year-old's football talent raised high hopes in Ecuador. His significant contribution was clear in the successes of Independiente del Valle, which won the Copa Libertadores U-20 championship a few years before. After being promoted to the first team in January 2023, he signed a contract with Cincinnati, a team in the American MLS league.

Marco Angulo has died. He was 22 years old

The player appeared in 33 matches on American pitches, 24 of which were league games. In November 2022, he played for Ecuador's senior national team for the first time, making two appearances in national colours. According to the "Transfermarkt" portal, the player's value was 3 million US dollars. He played his final match on 6th October.

The aforementioned club, LDU Quito, shared the news on social media regarding the death of the 22-year-old player. A statement expressed sorrow over his passing and extended condolences to his family.
