A dangerous incident occurred at the Odessa Zoo when a leopard attacked one of the employees. The man, who intended to clean the cage, was unaware that the predator was nearby. As a result of the attack, he suffered serious injuries to his head, neck, and spine and was taken to hospital.
Police officers arrived at the scene, where they found two people in the enclosure. One of the employees was trying to assist the injured colleague. The leopard, having escaped the enclosure, posed a threat to people. Attempts to sedate the animal were unsuccessful, forcing the police to use firearms.
The zoo director, Ihor Biljakov, explained that the cause of the attack was a breach of safety regulations by the employee. He emphasised that the young leopard, named Casanova, was not responsible for the incident. The injured employee remains in hospital with multiple injuries.
