According to the portal Baza, during the night from Monday to Tuesday in the Volgograd Oblast in the south of Russia, there was a drone attack. As a result of the impact, a freight train derailed. Nine carriages went off the tracks, and two fuel tankers caught fire. One of them exploded.
The Russian railways stated on their website that the wagons' derailment at the Kotluban station occurred due to "interference by unauthorised persons into the operation of railway transport, cars of a freight train derailed at the Kotluban station." According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
Photos and recordings from the scene appeared on the internet.
The Ukrainian authorities have reported in the past about sabotage actions on Russian railways to disrupt military logistics, including in areas far from the front line. Kotluban is about 300 miles from the Ukrainian border.
Russians in fear. Attack in Belgorod
On Tuesday at dawn, there was also an attack in Belgorod. "Several aerial targets were shot down," stated Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
According to the Russian official's report, one person was injured.
Meanwhile, a massive fire broke out on the Lomonosov ship in Arkhangelsk. The fire engulfed the entire deck. The Russian authorities did not indicate the cause of the incident.
