Recipe for beetroot cutlets

Beetroot cutlets are a fantastic way to use this popular vegetable in a new form. They are simple to prepare, and their intense colour and delicate flavour make them an appealing alternative to traditional dishes.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large beetroots,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 small onion,
  • 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs (or more if the mixture is too runny),
  • 1 clove of garlic,
  • salt and pepper to taste,
  • 1 teaspoon of marjoram,
  • oil for frying.

Preparation:

  1. Wash, peel, and grate the beetroots using a fine grater. Finely chop the onion and press the garlic through a garlic press.
  2. In a bowl, combine the beetroots, onion, garlic, and egg. Season with salt, pepper, and marjoram.
  3. Gradually add breadcrumbs until the mixture is thick enough to form cutlets.
  4. Shape the mixture into small patties and coat them in breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the cutlets on both sides until golden brown, and then place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
