Cuban soldiers missing after explosive depot blaze in Holguín
Thirteen Cuban soldiers went missing following explosions at an ammunition depot in Holguín Province, approximately 700 kilometers from Havana. Authorities are investigating the incident.
According to authorities, the explosions resulted from a fire that broke out during construction work. An investigation is currently underway to clarify the circumstances surrounding this incident. Among the missing are four officers and nine soldiers.
Evacuation and authorities' response
After the explosions, authorities evacuated 361 people from the surrounding areas to a safe location.
Recordings posted on social media show flames and plumes of dark smoke rising above the treeline.
Cuban authorities continue their efforts to locate the missing soldiers and secure the area.
