Clove-infused brews: A holiday remedy for digestion and more

After the holidays, I checked my spice supplies. Unsurprisingly, I must go shopping for one for New Year's Day. Only the aromatic scent remains in the jar, and there's nothing better for making tea.

I appreciate simple solutions that I find in the kitchen. They are often more effective and economical than those from the pharmacy. I always turn to tea with cloves for overeating and minor digestive troubles. It acts as a balm for the digestive system.

Black tea without added sugar is effective after heavy meals as it accelerates the secretion of digestive juices. When you add cloves to it, the drink becomes even more beneficial. We eagerly use this spice during the Christmas season. It is a key ingredient in gingerbread spice. We also stud oranges with it to spread a beautiful aroma throughout the house. Magda Gessler recommends adding it to the broth. What properties do cloves have?

Aid in digestion

On the first day of the new year, I appreciate cloves most for their ability to aid digestion. Late-night eating is never ideal. You can quickly brew cloves with tea to prepare a drink that eases stomach ailments and supports digestive function. The health-promoting properties of this spice are primarily due to eugenol, which has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects. Clove tea is helpful for nausea and bloating.

Strengthen immunity

Cloves support digestion, boost immunity, relieve migraines, and even soothe toothaches. They are rich in vitamins A, K, E, D, and C, as well as those from the B group, and minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, sodium, folic acid, selenium, and magnesium.

How to prepare tea with cloves?

Preparing tea with cloves is very simple. Just add a few cloves to a cup of boiling water. Depending on your preference, you can brew them together with the tea or add them later. The most effective brew is without sugar. It's also beneficial to use loose-leaf tea instead of tea bags. The drink will have a rich, spicy aroma and will quickly alleviate digestive discomfort.
