NBA legends reunited: Muresan and Bogues defy height odds
This photo is destined to become legendary: Gheorghe Muresan and Muggsy Bogues standing side by side as the tallest and shortest basketball players in NBA history. They have a substantial height difference of 71 centimetres. Interestingly, the two players were on the same team, and you might recognise Bogues from the film "Space Jam".
Gheorghe Muresan, known as Ghiță, stands 2.31 metres tall, making him officially the tallest player in NBA history. His skills matched his height. The Romanian played for teams such as the New Jersey Nets and Maryland Nighthawks.
On the other hand, Muggsy Bogues is known not only to NBA enthusiasts but also to fans of the film "Space Jam". Standing at just 1.60 metres, he played one of the main roles in the film. Bogues was a world champion with the USA national team. In 1997, he led the league in three-point shooting.
Gheorghe Muresan and Muggsy Bogues played for the same club. They both represented the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards). However, they never had the chance to play on the same team. Muggsy Bogues played for the "Wizards" during the 1987–1988 season.
Meanwhile, the Romanian player represented the Washington Bullets during the seasons from 1993 to 1998. He also had an acting career, including a role in the film "My Giant" with Billy Crystal.
The club publishes photos of its legends. They posted such a photo
Although Bogues and Muresan never had the opportunity to play together on the court for the same team, both basketball players were acquainted from NBA encounters. They reunited years later as retired players. Representatives of the Washington Wizards shared a photo of their meeting on their Instagram profile.
The photo highlights the immense difference between the shortest and tallest players in NBA history. A height difference of 71 centimetres separates the former players. Bogues barely reaches Muresan's shoulder.
Gheorghe Muresan is not the only "record-breaking" player representing the Washington Wizards. The team also included Manute Bol, who was slightly shorter. Interestingly, Bol played one season on the same team as Bogues.
