Trump's campaign team was informed this week that he and Vance were among the group of individuals whose devices were attacked by infiltrating the Verizon mobile network system, according to the "NYT".
The newspaper noted that some of the attacked devices belong to people in the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden.
Chinese infiltration
Earlier this year, U.S. agencies identified a hacker group linked to China, known as Salt Typhoon, which was operating within domestic mobile network systems.
However, it was only recently that investigators discovered that specific phone numbers were being targeted, the newspaper described.
Reports of Chinese infiltration raise many concerns due to the presidential elections, which will be held on 5th November.
During this campaign, former President Trump's team was already targeted by Iranian hackers, who attempted to gain access to the contents of Republicans' computers by sending fake emails.
