Bodybuilder Jo Lindner's posthumous perfume line sparks online backlash

In the twilight of June and dawn of July last year, there was extensive discussion about the tragic demise of Jo Lindner. He was barely 30, still actively bodybuilding, and his abrupt exit was unexpected by all. The German breathed his last in his loved one's arms.

"He passed away in my arms. It all happened so quickly. A mere three days earlier, he was complaining about neck and back woes. There are so many things that we don't appreciate until they're gone. An aneurysm devastated everything. He was caring, cherished, and had faith in people. For now, I am unable to express anything further," his beloved Nicha penned down at the time.

We are approaching the first remembrance of his untimely passing. Unexpectedly, the German bodybuilder is once again on the media's hotlist. This resurgence is a result of his parent's initiative to ensure that the memory of their son remains fresh in the minds of his fans.

It began with the establishment of an Instagram memorial page dedicated to Lindner. Thereafter, his father brought to light plans to publish a biography. No one thought much of this. However, news concerning... the development of a perfume range, said to embody the aroma of the late bodybuilder, was indeed a shock.

"Every time we come into contact with his belongings, we encounter his scent and feel his presence. We want to share this experience with you so that you too can feel connected to him," explained Johann Lindner.

This proposal elicited disdain from a number of internet users. Posts criticizing the parents for this manner of honoring their son's memory swiftly emerged.

"I am left with the impression that the family is trying to capitalise on his death", "This post churns my stomach", "Reading other comments, it appears that we all share a similar opinion on this", "Please, refrain from cashing in on his name," internet users penned under the post.

The late bodybuilder's father clarified that some proceeds would be channeled to charitable causes. Despite this, fans remain repulsed by the conception of the fragrances.
