All staff and passengers were promptly evacuated. Prangsgaard informed TV Syd that the incident was a bomb threat. The airport's official website confirmed the terminal's closure, indicating that the situation was still developing, as reported by TV2.

The police have warned, urging people to avoid the airport area. They announced their heavy presence at Billund Airport through social media, advising the public that they could not provide detailed information and appealing not to head towards the airport but to follow police instructions.

Passenger witnesses detention

Amid the evacuation, a passenger recounted to "Ekstra Bladet" the moment an announcement via the loudspeakers instructed everyone to leave the building immediately, prohibiting them from taking their luggage. He observed police detaining an individual and taking possession of packages the person allegedly brought into the terminal.

Billund Airport is Denmark's second-largest airport, with only Copenhagen's airport surpassing it in size. According to TV2, it facilitated travel for around four million passengers last year.
