The birth of a child is said to be one of the most extraordinary and beautiful moments in every mother's life. However, childbirth is a moment of emotion and joy and a significant challenge for the mother, doctors, and loved ones. When Quezia Romualdo became pregnant several months ago, she probably did not expect what was soon to come.
Originally from Brazil, Quezia Romualdo and her husband, Magdiel Costa, decided to expand their family in the spring of last year. The couple wanted their five-year-old daughter to have siblings. They were successful, and the woman became pregnant. Over time, it became apparent that this would be a world-class birth, as the couple was expecting not one or two but six children.
The woman gave birth to six children in just ten minutes
In October last year, Quezia Romualdo was admitted to São Bernardo Apart Hospital in Colatina, where Theo, Matteo, Lucca, Henry, Maytê, and Eloá were born. The woman delivered all the children in just 10 minutes. For the safety of both the mother and her babies, a caesarean section was necessary, which was performed in the 27th week of pregnancy. Magdiel Costa, the proud father, shared the joyful news on social media. Thanks to him, we know that 32 specialists worked at the birth of the sextuplets, and the babies had to stay in the hospital to gain weight.
Yesterday, we witnessed the exciting birth of sextuplets in the intensive care unit at São Bernardo Apart Hospital. Theo, Matteo, Lucca, Henry, Maytê, and Eloá were born at different weights. The largest baby weighed 1 kg, the smallest was 0.6 kg, and the others weighed over 0.8 kg. An amazing team of 32 professionals, including paediatricians specialising in neonatology, surgeons, nurses, and anaesthetists, joined forces to provide the best care for the children, and everything went smoothly - reads a post on Facebook.
Unfortunately, the family's happiness did not last long. Two of the babies did not survive. A few weeks after the birth, Magdiel Costa revealed in a Facebook post that Theo and his brother Mateo had died.
