Election night anxiety: America awaits decisive result
Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, and their campaign teams are already counting down the hours. Who will ultimately win the exceptionally tight race for the presidency of the United States? According to the TVN24 portal, Donald Trump will await the American verdict in Palm Beach, Florida, while Kamala Harris will be at Howard University in Washington, her alma mater.

The tension in the United States is rising with each passing hour. American and international media are asking one question: who will move into the White House?
The Reuters agency notes that the winner might not be known for several days after Tuesday's voting. Trump has already indicated that he may attempt to contest a loss, as was the case in 2020.
The candidates will spend the most important evening with their teams, families, and voters. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will spend the upcoming evening at Howard University in Washington, her alma mater. Her opponent, Republican Donald Trump, will be in Palm Beach, Florida.
The latest pre-election polls indicate a slight lead for Harris supporters over Trump voters. In a PBS poll conducted from 31 October to 2 November with a sample of 1,297 respondents, Harris had a four-point lead: 51% of citizens want to vote for the current vice president, while 47% for the former president.
Interestingly, 8% of Republicans intend to vote for Harris (up from 5% a month ago), while only 4% of Democrats plan to cast their vote for Trump.
Presidential elections in the USA: What awaits us?
On 5 November, when the last polling stations close on the West Coast and in Alaska, the election marathon will end and the beginning of another lengthy process, comprising vote counting, resolving potential disputes, certifying results, voting in the Electoral College, formal confirmation of the winner by Congress, and the new president's inauguration.
However, similar to four years ago, we should expect that vote counting in some states may take several days. Among the slowest are the largest ones - California and New York - but also likely the most crucial for the election outcome, Pennsylvania.
Although it is theoretically possible that media and research centres will announce the winner on election night, polls suggest that the differences between the candidates' results will be minimal. We will learn the winner in the following days, just like in 2020.
