We all aspire to have smooth and shiny locks. Sometimes, however, they require more attention and the use of appropriate care methods. Frizzy hair is a nuisance that affects many women. Rough and unruly strands can be difficult to manage.

This phenomenon is often caused by high-porosity hair. Such hair is characterised by widely opened cuticles, which lead to frizz and styling difficulties.

A simple aluminium foil trick

Beauty expert Sarah Jossel demonstrated a simple method to tame frizzy hair using aluminium foil on the "This Morning" show. She claims that expensive cosmetics aren't necessary to achieve satisfying results. The method was first shared by Instagrammer Laila Högfeldt, who was delighted with the results.

The technique involves gently wrapping the hair with the matte side of the foil and sliding it along the entire length of the strands. As a result, the hair becomes incredibly soft and smooth. This effect is due to the neutralisation of electric charges that cause frizz. Aluminium foil emits negative charges that counteract the positive charges on the hair, reducing roughness and leaving the hair pleasantly smooth.

Alternative hair care methods

Though aluminium foil works wonders, it's also beneficial to care for your hair on a daily basis. Especially if you desire long-lasting smooth strands, acquiring the right cosmetics is essential.

It's important to determine your hair's porosity, which can be tested by dipping a strand in water. High-porosity hair requires specialised care using emollient and protein conditioners. Moisturising cosmetics will also be helpful.
