Terrifying events have recently unfolded in Barcelona. An aggressive man was attacking pedestrians in popular tourist areas. The police eventually apprehended him.

Residents and tourists in Barcelona have been alarmed by reports of an aggressive man wandering the city who was approaching people, yelling at them, threatening them, and even physically attacking them.

The attack caught on camera

On 7th October, a video recorded by a bystander went viral on social media, showing the man approaching a couple with a small child and pushchair in the Montjuïc area. The footage shows a relatively young man who begins shouting very aggressively at the child's parents and then strikes a one-year-old girl in the face with considerable force before her father has a chance to react.

The video shows the father quickly picking up the child and, along with the woman, walking away from the assailant in terror.

The enraged man continues yelling, initially trying to follow the frightened tourist couple and ignoring the person recording the incident. He eventually gives up and turns back.

More victims

The recorded incident is not the aggressor's only act of violence. Another victim is a 60-year-old man who was also attacked without provocation. He sustained numerous facial injuries and is badly bruised.

A few days later, the police finally managed to arrest the aggressor. He turned out to be a 31-year-old resident of the Maghreb, a region that includes several North African countries. He will be charged with assault and making threats. The number of incidents involving his reprehensible behaviour seems greater than initially assumed.

According to local police, all identified victims, including the child, are recovering. Fortunately, the little girl suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
