Zelensky's White House fallout: No mineral deal, tense exit
This was not a pleasant meeting. During the conversation between Zelensky and Trump, which could be followed by journalists, a sharp exchange of words took place. The planned signing of the agreement did not occur, and the President of Ukraine left the White House unaccompanied. He addressed these turbulent events in a brief post.
The purpose of Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the United States was to sign an agreement on minerals, but that did not materialise. Instead, a dispute unfolded at the White House. Donald Trump spoke to the President of Ukraine in harsh terms, ultimately emphasising that "he is not ready for peace."
Zelensky, despite attacks from Trump and J.D. Vance in front of the cameras, defended Ukrainian interests. In the end, he departed from the White House early, without a farewell at the exit from the President of the United States.
Afterwards, he posted online, devoid of negative emotions.
"We are working exactly for that"
"Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that," wrote the President of Ukraine.
