Zelensky warns of Putin's plan to expand beyond Ukraine into NATO territories

"I am certain that if Ukraine falls, Putin will invade the Baltic states," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In his opinion, after the Baltic states, he might also attack Poland and Germany since Vladimir Putin wants to rebuild the influence of the Soviet Union.

The House of Representatives voted on Saturday for a nearly £49 billion aid package for Ukraine. The vote means breaking the deadlock that has been ongoing for months in the House and paves the way for the resumption of support for Ukraine next week.

"I think this support will really strengthen the armed forces. I pray for that. If Ukraine really receives the weapon system we and thousands of soldiers so desperately need, then we will have a chance of winning," said Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky on NBC News's "Meet the Press."

"Of course, this support comes from the Americans because political decisions depend on public opinion, and this aid will strengthen Ukraine and send a strong signal that it will not become another Afghanistan. The USA will stand with Ukraine, protect Ukrainians and democracy around the world," - stated Zelensky.

In the conversation, he also emphasized that "Americans are not funding the war in Ukraine, but they are protecting freedom and democracy throughout Europe". - Ukraine is fighting and sending its sons and daughters to the front line and this is the price for all of Europe and all of NATO - he said.

"Putin wants to return to the influence of the USSR"

"I know for sure that if Ukraine falls, Putin will invade the Baltic states. Why? Not because he has some interesting idea or strategy, but because Putin wants to return to the influence of the USSR," said Zelensky.

President Zelensky stressed that Putin will force war, as he wants to restore the old Soviet republics. He added that Putin does not care whether these states are in NATO or not. - He doesn't care, that's his strategy. - said Zelensky. According to him, the next step after the conflict with the Baltic states would be a strike "on Poland, and parts of Germany".

Zelensky also noted that "if Putin is not stopped, he will be ready to attack NATO".

"We need to be ready to stop him now, because we've seen frozen conflicts in Georgia and in other countries. If we give Putin a big pause, if we freeze the war where we are, it will enable him to attack, because his entire industry will start working not for the war in Ukraine, but will begin to work for starting a war against NATO," he emphasized.
