"Kharkiv region. Construction of fortifications. Thank you to everyone working to make Ukraine stronger," Zelensky wrote in a statement published on social media.

Ukrainians are building fortifications in this region for a reason. According to reports from the independent Russian website Meduza, in the assessment of high-ranking representatives of Russian force structures, the occupation of 1.5 million-person Kharkiv "would be a realistic military objective".

Moreover, at the end of March, the Russian opposition website Vyorstka warned that the Russian Ministry of Defense was planning a mass army draft and a secret mobilization to encircle and capture Kharkiv. About 300,000 people could be mobilized.

The website assesses that the Kremlin authorities might be planning an assault on Kharkiv, preceded by another wave of mobilization. The website estimates that after the potential capture of Kharkiv, Russia could declare success in the war with Ukraine and gradually end military actions in the country.
