Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday said that Russia is preparing another mobilisation among its soldiers. It is to cover even 300 people. The President of Ukraine indicated the date of mobilising Russians and answered questions regarding a similar step from the Ukrainian army.

The President of Ukraine revealed revelations about the mobilisation of Russians during a joint press conference with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb. The Finnish politician is visiting Kyiv.

Additional mobilisation in Russia. What about Ukraine?

I can say that Russia is preparing an additional mobilisation of 300,000 soldiers. The deadline is set for 1 June – Volodymyr Zelensky announced, quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

Journalists inquired about the issue of mobilisation in Ukraine. - I can't say anything about the exact number of people who will be mobilised. We do not need half a million – the president replied.

The head of state positively assessed the recent actions taken by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, to increase the number of soldiers. - An appropriate number of those who were not on the front will find themselves on the front, - the Ukrainian politician announced.

On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law lowering the age of people subject to mobilisation from 27 to 25. The Supreme Council, i.e., the Ukrainian parliament, voted on it at the end of May 2023.

Ukraine needs people at the front

In December 2023, the president declared that the army proposes mobilising an additional 450-500 thousand people. He stipulated at the time that "this is a very delicate matter".

Meanwhile, many experts have warned in recent months that one reason Ukraine may have difficulty regaining the initiative on the front is its smaller mobilisable resources compared to Russia.
