Zelensky extends martial law and mobilisation in Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky presented two draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: one on the extension of martial law and one on the extension of general mobilisation.

The official body websites announced that the documents had been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. Zelensky submitted the drafts "On the extension of the general mobilisation period" and the draft law "On the approval of the President of Ukraine's decree on the extension of the martial law mobilisation period in Ukraine" on Tuesday, 23 July.

Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak assures on the Telegram app that they will be processed without delay. The politician predicts that the National Security, Defence, and Intelligence Committee will consider them on Tuesday, and then they will be put to a vote at the Verkhovna Rada session.

Regulations considered without delay

"Now the Committee, and then the Rada will approve them at the session. It will be in effect from 12 August and for 90 days, until 9 November. It will be the twelfth parliamentary vote on this matter," said Zheleznyak.

The Ukrinform Agency reminds us that on 8 May, the Verkhovna Rada approved the previous presidential decrees regarding the extension of martial law and general mobilisation in Ukraine on 14 May for 90 days, until 11 August 2024.
