Lemon water is well-known, but it's not the only way to prepare a quick hot drink. You can also use a spice that you're sure to have in your kitchen cupboard. It's famed for its warming properties, yet that's not its only benefit. In Eastern countries, it is a staple in the kitchen; we usually associate it with cakes and desserts.

What this spice contains

Why is it worth drinking water with cinnamon? This spice not only makes a delicious addition to dishes, but it also effectively addresses various health issues. It can help combat acne, cellulite, and reduce body fat. Furthermore, it has anti-cancer properties and can delay the onset of many diseases. Cinnamon also supplies various vitamins like A, E, and K, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium, and magnesium.

Here are reasons why you should drink water with cinnamon:

  • lowers blood sugar levels,
  • promotes fat burning, aiding in weight loss, especially when combined with exercise,
  • suppresses appetite thanks to its intense, spicy flavour without any calories,
  • quenches thirst and warms the body simultaneously,
  • stimulates bowel function and helps cleanse them of waste,
  • offers antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, which is particularly important during the cold season,
  • regularly drinking it can help supplement vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

How to prepare cinnamon water?

To make cinnamon water, place a large piece of cinnamon bark in a glass of water and leave it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, you will have a ready-made drink. Another option is to toss a few pieces of bark into a litre pitcher, fill it with water, and leave it in the fridge overnight. You can also boil cinnamon with water, maintaining a ratio of one piece of bark per glass of water. You may add ginger, cloves, or turmeric with a pinch of pepper. After cooling, the drink can be diluted with mineral water. This type of water is a true health bomb!
