Windows 11 users hit by blank screen bug after latest update

Windows 11 has encountered an issue following the KB5036893 update, which comprises a set of April patches released as part of Patch Tuesday. Users have reported being greeted by nothing but a white screen upon startup, reminiscent of the backdrop used during the system’s quick setup. Fortunately, there is a workaround available.

Windows Latest has outlined the problems with Windows 11, notably after applying the April security updates. Among these issues, the KB5036893 update has been particularly troublesome due to a bug that leaves some users facing a blank white screen akin to the Windows setup background seen after certain updates.

Officially, there seems to be no way to close or bypass this screen directly; however, users have found an alternative method. Discussions on Reddit and Microsoft’s technical support forums have highlighted disabling internet access as a temporary fix. This prevents Windows 11 from attempting to refresh the system configuration at startup, allowing the computer to boot without interference.

Understandably, this is not a viable long-term solution and is certainly not conducive to a seamless computing experience. Microsoft has yet to issue an update to rectify this issue, leaving users to devise solutions.

As highlighted by Windows Latest, the white screen problem is not the sole issue plaguing Windows 11 users after the latest updates. There have also been reports of users encountering indecipherable error codes.

These errors primarily arise during the update installation process, which fails to be complete for various reasons. Similar issues have also been recurring in Windows 10. Consequently, Windows users must remain patient until Microsoft acknowledges these faults and releases subsequent updates to address them.
