Windows 11 update glitch sparks compatibility concerns
Microsoft has confirmed an issue in Windows 11 after installing the 24H2 update. Users may inadvertently encounter a BSOD, which stands for 'Blue Screen of Death', a critical error resulting in a message displayed on a blue screen. Consequently, the only option is to restart the operating system.

The glitch in Windows 11 occurs when using the Voicemeeter application by VB-Audio Software, as indicated in an updated document on Microsoft's website. The error appears unexpectedly and points to improper memory management. This arises from the application's incompatibility with the latest memory management system in Windows 11. Microsoft states that the manufacturer is already working on a solution.
In the meantime, Windows 11 will not offer the installation of the 24H2 release on computers running the described application to minimise the risk of the problem occurring. Microsoft advises users not to bypass this safeguard on their own, which is possible by using, for example, the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or the Media Creation Tool to force the installation of the new version.
It is expected that once the memory handling error is resolved, Windows Update will automatically suggest the system update installation to users. However, this does not change that before the issue was revealed, the Windows 11 update likely reached many computers with the described software. Users should remain patient and avoid using the application if it causes a BSOD for them.
Windows 11 24H2 introduces several significant improvements. Microsoft has added new features related to Copilot+, taskbar enhancements, and File Explorer updates. Additionally, there are new Wi-Fi privacy control mechanisms, alongside Bluetooth LE improvements. Users can also expect enhancements in account switching in Microsoft Teams and improved functionality of Remote Desktop.
