Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced the successful test of a new missile named "Oreshnik" by engineers. According to Putin, "there are currently no means to counter such weapons." The missile travels at a speed of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 metres per second.
He added that the new missile targeted Ukrainian military plants in Dnipro, which produce missiles and other types of weaponry. He noted that this was in response to Ukraine using American and British long-range weaponry.
The Kremlin spokesperson stated that 30 minutes before the strike, Moscow sent an automatic notification to the United States via the Nuclear Risk Reduction Centre.
The White House confirmed this information. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre informed reporters at a briefing that in recent days, they had been communicating with Ukraine and their closest allies and partners to share this information.
Jean-Pierre emphasised that the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with new weapons packages and work on speeding up their delivery.
The White House declared that Russia bears responsibility for "escalating at every turn" in Ukraine, including involving North Korean troops in warfare. Jean-Pierre added that the United States has warned Moscow against engaging "another country in another part of the world."
