Why the worst seat on the plane might be the best

Tourists avoid certain aeroplane seats like the plague while they practically beg for others. John Burfitt, an expert in travel, reveals why the seat many consider the worst is, paradoxically, the best.

Airplane journeys often last several hours or even more than a dozen hours. Everyone wants a seat on board that makes them feel comfortable.

Traveler reviews plane seat

John Burfitt is a travel expert who publishes content on the Australian service Escape. According to him, seats in the back rows of the plane, which are considered the least comfortable by many, are ideal. “I’m always astounded when other travellers call my favourite seat the worst seat on the plane,” he admitted, as the New York Post quoted. The traveller rushes to explain his choice.

He explains that he began to love the back row of the plane after an unpleasant experience during a long flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. At that time, the person sitting behind him continuously kicked his seat. He then decided to sit only in the back row and noticed many advantages of this seat.

For some the best, for others the worst

When the man sat in the back row by the window on his next flight, he understood what comfortable travelling is. First, by occupying the back row, no one can kick their seat or suddenly lower their tray table, generating vibrations on the backrest.

Many internet users disagreed with the traveller, claiming that people sitting in the back row are bothered by queues of people waiting to use the toilet. John agreed with this criticism but emphasised that such problems only affect those closest to the aisle. He added that occupying the indicated seat makes you one of the first to be served food. Additionally, sitting at the back makes contact with the cabin crew easier.

However, this still didn’t convince all travellers. Others still argue that the back row has many disadvantages, including turbulence feeling more strongly at the plane's rear.

And you, which seat on the plane do you like the most and the least?
