As reported by "Kommersant", the fire started in an oil refining installation in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

According to the initial information, no one was injured, and the refinery's employees were evacuated. "Special services are on site, deploying all necessary resources to contain the fire in one of the oil refining installations," Governor Gleb Nikitin stated on Telegram.

An additional attack targeted a fuel depot in the city of Oryol.

Drone raids across the country

The Russian Ministry of Defence reported the destruction of 11 drones in the Kursk region, seven in the Belgorod region, two in the Moscow and Oryol regions, and one in the Leningrad, Bryansk, and Tula regions. Moreover, the administrations of the Nizhny Novgorod and Voronezh regions reported drone attacks.

In the Belgorod region, a drone attack led to the power being cut off to seven villages, as reported by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Recent reports have mentioned drone strikes on industrial sites crucial to the Russian military industry - the Mikhailovsky Mining-Processing Combine in Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk region and the Severstal metallurgical plants in Cherepovets in the Vologda region.

In recent months, there has been a notable increase in drone raids on military, industrial, and technological targets in Russia. Moscow points the finger at Kyiv for these operations. Independent experts highlight that the drone attacks, some of which originate from within Russian territory, are targeted increasingly further from Ukraine's border. For instance, a liquefied gas terminal in Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea, near Estonia's border, was attacked on January 20.

Drones have also been sighted over Moscow and its surrounding areas, causing the airspace of local airports to be shut down.
