Drone attacks ignite Russian refinery and disrupt regions near Moscow

Early in the morning, a drone attacked the refinery in Ryazan. It is the capital of the Ryazan region, located about 200 kilometres south of Moscow. Residents claim they heard three explosions, then smoke and flames appeared over the refinery.

Videos have already appeared online showing a drone attacking the fuel plant.

According to unofficial information, a heat exchanger unit installation is burning at the refinery. The fire covered an area of over 200 square metres and is still spreading. Dozens of firefighters are fighting it.

"The oil refinery in Ryazan was attacked by a drone. A fire broke out as a result of the attack. According to preliminary information, there are human casualties," - wrote the governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, on his Telegram channel.

According to TASS agency reports, two people were injured - they were taken to a hospital in Ryazan. Their condition is serious.

After the explosions and the outbreak of fire at the refinery, residents spotted more drones over the city.

Massive drone attack on Russia

Drones attacked not only Ryazan but also, among others, the Voronezh and Belgorod regions.

"Russian air defence forces destroyed over 30 Ukrainian drones over the Voronezh region overnight. Minor damage to infrastructure and residences occurred," - reported the head of the region, Alexander Gusev, on his Telegram channel. He assured that no one was injured as a result of the attack.

The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that as a result of the overnight drone attacks, 45,000 people were left without electricity.
