- The situation in Volchansk is challenging; the enemy occupies positions on the city streets. "I call for immediate evacuation," says the recording published by the Unian agency from police officer Denis Yaroslavsky. So far, nearly 8,000 civilians have fled the region. Heavy fighting is ongoing.

The Union agency published the recording with the call for evacuation on Wednesday before 9 AM Greenwich Time. It features police officer Denis Yaroslavsky coordinating the evacuation in the region. He said that the situation in Volchansk is challenging; the enemy occupies positions on the city streets. In the background, dozens of explosions and shots can be heard.

"Evacuate"

Yaroslavsky confirmed that the evacuation of the population is underway. - Evacuate, we will help everyone. The Armed Forces are working for our victory - he adds.

On the same day, the head of the military authorities of the region, Oleh Synehubov, reported that it has already been possible to evacuate nearly 8,000 people from the border areas.

Nearly 8,000 people evacuated

In recent days, from areas affected by the fighting, "a total of 7,991 people were evacuated," – he wrote on Telegram. The official reported that over the last 24 hours, the Russians shelled Kharkiv six times, using S-300 missiles, UMBP D-30 shells, and strike drones. "Twenty-two people were injured in a day," - he conveyed.

In Volchansk, directly at the Russian border, as a result of the shelling, one person was killed and two were injured – he added.

"On the Kharkiv sector, the enemy made 16 attacks on our troops' positions (...). The fighting continues. The enemy is not achieving success," - Synehubov assured.

Ukrainians are retreating

In the north of the Kharkiv region in Ukraine, there are about 30,000 Russian soldiers.

At night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that in response to intense bombardments and aggressive assault by Russia, "Ukrainian forces decided to carry out a maneuver involving the relocation of their units to more strategic positions in the Luhansk and Volchansk regions, located in the Kharkiv region."
