Kim Ki-Nam passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. According to North Korean state media, he died due to old age and multi-organ failure.
Nam held one of the longest tenures as an official in North Korea. He was among a select group of loyalists who served under three generations of the Kim family: Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un.
Additionally, he was among the rare North Korean officials who visited South Korea, leading a funeral delegation 15 years ago following the demise of President Kim Dae Jung, as reported by the portal Time.
In 1966, Kim Ki Nam became the deputy head of the propaganda department, and 19 years later, he took charge of the department. He retired seven years ago.
Loyal to the regime - Kim Ki-Nam dies
The North Korean news agency KCNA reported that Kim Jong Un attended mourning ceremonies on Wednesday morning, honouring the "revolutionary veteran who remained infinitely loyal" to the regime.
Yonhap news agency drew parallels between the deceased propagandist and Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister for Nazi Germany.
