Ukrainian soldiers self-fund amid equipment shortage in war efforts
A soldier fighting for Ukraine's freedom said on Ukrainian television that they are buying night vision scopes and machine guns themselves. Yegor Oleynik believes the enemy is much better equipped, while his country only provides warriors with helmets, magazines, or bulletproof vests.

The war in Ukraine has been going on for more than two years. In the last few months, it has been hard for soldiers to defend themselves because of the lack of ammunition. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to the West for support multiple times. Perhaps the situation will change after the United States provides support.
Ukrainian soldiers are increasingly deciding to criticize the commanders of individual battalions openly. On Ukrainian television, Yegor Oleynik said those fighting with the Russians must care for their equipment. The recording was posted on the X platform under the profile "ASLAN."
With each day it gets better, because we're buying night vision scopes and machine guns ourselves. What they issue us at the headquarters are magazines, helmets, or bulletproof vests - Oleynik said on Ukrainian television.
He also noted that the enemies are equipped with a significantly larger number of magazines, among other things.
Ukrainians are buying their own equipment
In a television interview, Yegor Oleynik stated that buying equipment independently is expensive. They often have to spend even £1,200.
The problem is, of course, the rapid wear of the purchased equipment. As Oleynik said, when soldiers are in position, they don't need to use up magazines, but it's completely different when going into a position.
In recent days, more voices of criticism from soldiers have emerged. A military member of the 115th Mechanized Brigade, after the Russians occupied the city of Ocheretino in Donetsk oblast, decided to break the silence and stated that his company was completely destroyed. The man added that no one prepared the people to fight. Moreover, he suggested a lack of interest from the commanders and a lack of respect for the military.
