"Brother, I'll help you. You just have to get there," says a Ukrainian soldier to a wounded Russian. Fighters of the "Rubizh" brigade have released a segment of a recording showing Russian soldiers laying down their arms and surrendering to the Ukrainians.

The statement from the Ukrainian soldiers emphasized that there is an impenetrable civilisational chasm between them and the Russian Federation. Just yesterday, a horrifying picture of a tortured Ukrainian defender in Russian captivity spread across the entire country. Today, they show how real soldiers, who have honour and dignity, treat enemy prisoners.

The military refer to the picture of Oleksandr Hrytiuk from Kivertsi in Volyn, who the Russians captured in April 2022. In January 2024, his family was informed that his body had returned from captivity. Hrytiuk's wife described that his head was all blue, his nose to the side, and the index fingers had no nails. The whole body bore signs of torture. The soldier "did not want to speak Russian".

Russians "chose life"

Dozens of occupiers were taken captive. The defenders described that most of them were mobilised and sentenced to death in "meat" assaults. They chose life. Ukrainians emphasised that the prisoners are treated well and in accordance with international law.

"Our soldiers provided them with the necessary qualified medical care and acted as humanely as possible, as combat conditions allowed. Atrocities, killings of civilians, torture and abuse of the unarmed are the path of darkness of Russia. We at the front are making every effort to destroy even traces of the Russian Federation in our free, civilized country," assured the fighters of the Ukrainian "Rubizh" brigade.
