"The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked a fuel depot in the Belgorod region using an unmanned aerial vehicle. As a result of the explosion, the tanks caught fire. Firefighters are extinguishing the blaze," reported Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region in Russia, on Sunday.
He added that information about the attack's consequences is being clarified. "All operational services are working on site," he added.
Residents posted photos on social media showing burning tankers. The attack is said to have taken place in the village of Jutanovka, near the town of Volokonovka.
The Belgorod region is attacked by Ukraine almost daily, according to information provided by the region's governor. On Sunday alone, a representative of the Russian government reported several strikes.
"Three more settlements in our region were attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using drones. There were no casualties," Gladkov reported on Sunday evening. Berezovka, Ryabiki, and Novaya Tavolzhanka villages were said to be attacked.
