Ukrainian brigade decimates key Russian defences with drones
The Ukrainian Black Forest brigade effectively uses surveillance drones and HIMARS systems to destroy enemy targets. Commanders admit that the Russians are still advancing, but the cost they incur is significant. They suffer losses both in personnel and costly equipment.
The Black Forest brigade in Ukraine, using reconnaissance drones, effectively destroys key Russian targets such as Nebo-M radar stations. These advanced radar systems played an important role in Russia's air defence, and their destruction weakened Putin's forces' ability to detect and monitor airspace.
Thanks to ATACMS missiles, which can be launched from the ground, Ukrainian forces have gained new capabilities to attack targets deep within enemy territory. According to specialists, the use of these missiles allows Ukraine to create "air corridors" for effective combat operations.
A painful blow for the Russians
Ukrainian commanders emphasise that Storm Shadow missiles differ fundamentally from HIMARS. "There's a big 'boom,' and there's a hole in the ground, nobody moves," describes Lieutenant Kostjantin from the Black Forest brigade in an interview with "The Times".
In October, Kostjantin's brigade located a Russian Nebo-M station in Russian-controlled eastern Ukraine. This station is capable of monitoring the sky hundreds of miles to the west. Russia is believed to have only ten such systems, each costing approximately £82 million.
It took just 50 minutes for combat drones to locate the station and designate the spot for the ATACMS missile strike.
A month later, the administration of President Joe Biden agreed to allow Ukrainians to carry out attacks on targets deep within Russia. Donald Trump criticised this decision, commenting on the escalation of the conflict.
The Ukrainian Black Forest brigade claims that with Western weapons, it destroyed approximately 30 Russian air defence systems, including an S-400 anti-aircraft missile battery.
