Ukrainian battalion downs high-altitude Russian drone in Kharkiv

The Voron group from the anti-aircraft and artillery battalion successfully shot down a Russian Orlan-10 drone over the Kharkiv region at an altitude of 11,875 feet. The hunt was challenging due to the high altitude and the constant changes in the UAV's flight direction. It's noteworthy as this is the first time a drone has been successfully brought down at such a considerable altitude.

The war in Ukraine: the most important information in our live coverage

Soldiers from the Voron group of the anti-aircraft and artillery battalion shot down a Russian Orlan-10 drone over the Kharkiv region. The unmanned aerial vehicle was detected at 11,875 feet and subsequently destroyed.

When the Orlan-10 UAV was spotted, the Voron group from the anti-aircraft and artillery battalion moved to the target area. Collaborating with border colleagues, they determined the target's course and altitude. Once on site, one soldier prepared the equipment, and then two more members of the fighter crew stepped into action, reports the Kharkiv regional military unit.

The military emphasizes that unusual conditions made the entire operation extremely difficult. The drone was flying at a high altitude and constantly changing its flight path. The skills and composure of the Ukrainian soldiers were crucial to the mission's success.
