Discover two simple ways to extend the battery life on iPhones. Remove widgets from the lock screen and disable keyboard vibrations to save energy and enjoy longer device usage.

Nowadays, smartphones are our daily companions, and a low battery level can cause panic and the need to find a place to charge your phone. Knowing a few simple ways to extend battery life on iPhones is worth knowing. Two key changes in iOS 17.4 settings can help save energy.

Remove widgets from the lock screen

Lock screen widgets are convenient but can drastically shorten battery life because apps run in the background to provide the latest information. To avoid this, it's best to forgo lock screen widgets completely. Hold your finger on the lock screen, select a profile without widgets, or remove widgets by pressing "-" in the screen customisation option.

Disable keyboard vibrations

Keyboard vibrations, known as "haptic feedback," were introduced in iOS 16. While they improve typing comfort, they can also negatively affect battery life. To disable them, go to Settings, select "Sounds & Haptics," then "Keyboard Feedback," and turn off "Haptic."

Additional tips

  1. Reduce animations: Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion.
  2. Shorten auto-lock time: Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
  3. Disable 5G: Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Voice & Data > LTE.

Following the above tips can significantly extend your iPhone’s battery life on a single charge. Let us know in the comments what other battery-saving tips you have.
