Vatican sources confirmed in an evening communiqué that Pope Francis's health has indeed improved.

Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that Francis, who has bilateral pneumonia, is continuing oxygen therapy and is sitting in a chair. He remains in good spirits.

It was also stated that the Pope is aware of what is happening, particularly regarding the prayer initiatives by the faithful on his behalf.

The daily rosary prayer for the Pope's health will be led on Thursday at 9 pm in St. Peter's Square by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Baldassare Reina.

Francis at the Gemelli clinic

The Pope was admitted to the Gemelli clinic on 14 February. At that time, it was reported that he was suffering from bronchitis. It later developed into bilateral pneumonia.

Initially, the plan was for the Pope to remain in the Gemelli Polyclinic until 2 March. However, his health deteriorated, and doctors only recently reported a slight improvement. Even after returning to the Vatican, Francis will have to continue with prolonged treatment.
