This is not the first time Trump has criticised Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Recently, following the resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Trump stated that her behaviour was toxic and did not promote good relations. He added that she would not be missed.
Tensions between the USA and Canada increased after Trump's threats to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian goods. Trump accused the Trudeau government of failing to act on trade and immigration issues. The meeting between the two leaders at Mar-a-Lago in November did not yield the expected results.
Donald Trump became the 47th President of the USA
The United States Electoral College officially elected Donald Trump as the 47th President of the USA. In the vote, which took place on Tuesday, the Republican secured 312 electoral votes, while his rival in the autumn election, Kamala Harris, obtained 226 votes.
