Trump's bold peace gambit: End of Ukrainian war by Easter?

Although Trump has abandoned his plan to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, he still wishes to cease hostilities on the front as swiftly as possible. The media have obtained a plan suggesting that Easter could conclude everything.

The investigative service "Meduza" reports on this issue. According to them, Trump's peace proposal reached Ukrainian journalists via European diplomats.

What does Trump's plan involve?

The first step is a conversation between Trump and Vladimir Putin at the end of January or the beginning of February. From there, further discussions are to be held with the Ukrainian authorities. The next action is to overturn Zelensky's decree prohibiting negotiations with Putin.

Meanwhile, at the end of February or the beginning of March, a meeting involving Trump, Zelensky, and Putin is planned, where "the basic parameters of the peace plan" are to be established.

The ceasefire is intended to be finalised on 20th April, Easter Sunday. Ukrainians will be required to withdraw from Kursk. By the end of April, a peace conference is to be organised, with the United States overseeing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. A role has also been envisaged for China. Peace is to be achieved by 9th May.

Will Ukraine forgo NATO membership?

According to the document, Ukraine is to renounce NATO membership and join the European Union in 2030. The plan also involves rebuilding the war-torn country with EU funds. Additionally, Ukraine is not to reduce its military, but it will continue to receive support from the USA.

Kyiv is also to cease demanding the return of territories occupied by Russia, without recognising their annexation by Putin's state. Sanctions on Russia are to be gradually lifted.

The head of the Ukrainian president's office, Andriy Yermak, denied the existence of any "100-day peace plans". Meanwhile, "The Wall Street Journal" confirmed that Trump instructed the special envoy to Ukraine, Gen. Keith Kellogg, to end the war within this time frame.
