Ukrainian drones strike deep into Russia, hitting Ufa refinery

Kyiv Post reports on the fire that broke out during the night from Sunday to Monday at the oil refinery in Ufa, Russia. Ukraine is believed to be behind the attack, and considering that it happened 1,300 kilometres from the border, it is most likely the furthest such strike that has occurred during the war.

The fire occurred at the oil refinery in Ufa - the capital of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan - during the night from Sunday to Monday. Just before the incident, according to residents, drone noises were heard in the area.

Kyiv Post states that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Bashkortostan confirmed the fire, but its cause was not specified. However, it was assured that there is no threat to nearby residents.

"One of the deepest attacks of this war"

According to Ukrainian OSINT analysts, the explosion caused significant damage, resulting in a large-scale fire.

"Ukrainian drones carried out one of the deepest attacks of this war, striking the Russian refinery in Ufa, located over 1,300 kilometres from the front line," it was also reported in a post on platform X. Other sources indicate that it was the furthest attack of this kind.

As the portal emphasises, the Russian Ministry of Defence shared information about the destruction of seven Ukrainian drones during the night, but did not mention any drone activity in Ufa.

At 6 AM Greenwich Time, rescue services stated that the fire at the refinery had been extinguished.
