Macron proposes nuclear cooperation and limited Ukraine ceasefire
Emmanuel Macron suggested in an interview with "Le Figaro" that France could deploy its nuclear weapons in allied countries. French warheads would replace the American presence in these nations.
Macron emphasised that he is open to deepening cooperation with European partners in the field of nuclear deterrence.
- Those who wish to deepen dialogue with us can, if necessary, participate in deterrent exercises. These exchanges will contribute to the development of a genuine strategic culture among Europeans - said the President of France.
Macron also noted that there is no need to fear discussing nuclear weapons. He stated that France's nuclear doctrine remains unchanged.
Ceasefire, but not on the front. Macron presented an unusual idea
In the same interview, Macron proposed introducing a partial ceasefire in Ukraine, which would last for one month. During this period, peace talks would take place.
The politician clarified that the ceasefire would only cover attacks on strategic infrastructure in Ukraine. It would not cover ground fighting along the front line. - In the event of a ceasefire, it would be very difficult to verify that the front is being respected - Macron argues.
