The Gallup poll results show that just under a month after the start of President Donald Trump's second term, his work is positively viewed by 45 percent of Americans. 51 percent of those surveyed have the opposite view. It's worth noting that in the first survey conducted after he took office on 20 January this year, Trump was supported by 47 percent of respondents.
According to the Fox News, the survey indicates that only 4 percent of Democrats and 37 percent of independent voters approve of the president's actions. Gallup highlights that the difference in opinion of Trump's work between representatives of the two main American parties is as high as 89 percent. For comparison, in the case of President Joe Biden in October 2021, this difference was 88 percent.
A similar percentage of respondents, as in the general assessment, expressed satisfaction with Trump's policies on immigration (46 percent), foreign affairs (44 percent), international trade (42 percent), and the economy (42 percent). Slightly fewer, 40 percent, approve of how the president is handling the situation in Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East.
Gallup notes that at the same stage of his presidency, in February, Bill Clinton had an approval rating of 51 percent. The highest approval in history was recorded by John F. Kennedy (72 percent) and Jimmy Carter (71 percent).
